Regent Opens Banana Festival 2019 of Bantul Regency

Regent of Bantul Drs. Suharsono opened the Banana Festival 2019 of Bantul regency at the yard of Bantul Regional Government II office on Thursday (6/20).

According to the committee report submitted by the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Marine and Fisheries, Bantul, Ir. Bambang Erwanto, MT that this event is a routine activity in Bantul Regency which has been going on for a long time.

Present at the event included the Bantul forkompimda line, the head of the OPD, the Quarantine Hall, in the BKPP DIY Office, BPTP, BPSDM, the subdistrict head of Bantul Regency and participants from various groups in Bantul Regency.

Bambang added that the banana festival aims to socialize banana plants, bananas in Bantul regency, because it is a superior fruit of our farmers who can be planted in the yard so that it becomes an extraordinary potential in Bantul Regency, at the national level even at the international level. Some time ago our farmers presented plants and bananas and processed bananas in Italy. From these achievements we hope that banana cultivation will become a mainstay for our farmers so that they can improve their welfare.

On this occasion, held launching Bantul’s Banana by the head of the UPTD BPTP Ir. Maman Suherman, MP. and the submission of Berlin Banana and soybean certificates from Dr., Kristamtini to the Regent of Bantul and the awarding of prizes by the Regent of Bantul to the champions.

While the Regent of Bantul in his remarks said that this festival is a joint effort in promoting and developing the repertoire and diversity of bananas in Bantul district as wealth, identity and pride as well as great potential for improving the welfare of the community.

"For that, I hope that the banana implementation festival this time will be a momentum for us to continue to commit to strengthening horticulture farmers by protecting our local fruit commodities and becoming the flagship fruit of Bantul," he said. For this reason, we must encourage people to continue innovating, so that bananas from Bantul will have a better sense of quantity and quality, both in the form of fresh bananas and processed bananas. "We should also be proud that Bantul currently has local bananas named Berlin Banana (Kober and Eling) which we hope will become an icon of Bantul Regency," he said.

In the future, I hope that the banana festival will be more vigorously carried out, especially through social media or even combined with tourist calendars or other major events that we have the attraction of many tourists.
